In 1996, Richard wrote a 30-radio script – No Smoke Without Fire – for Deptford Community Radio. A year later, his first stage drama got him accepted on the Soho Theatre New Writing programme.
In 2001, Homehelp had a three-week run at the White Bear – Kennington. Since then he has focussed more on historical drama with a contemporary resonance, and three plays of his have been published by New Theatre Publications.
Earlier in 2011, a new play was given a reading by The Script Readers. He has had numerous short pieces performed at script-in-hand events. Richard is an occasional theatre and book reviewer for Tribune. He is from Limerick but has lived in the UK for many years.
