After working in a few “grown-up jobs”, Richard trained at Rose Bruford College, Sidcup in his late 30’s and has been a professional actor since 2000.
His Theatre credits include Polonius in Hamlet (Creation Theatre Company at Oxford Castle), Capulet in Romeo & Juliet (UK tour), Sir Epicure Mammon in The Alchemist (Riverside Studios, Hammersmith for Present Moment), Judge Brack in Hedda Gabler (Greenwich Playhouse), Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing (Bromley Open Air Theatre and tour of Southern Spain), Tom Bates in Brimstone & Treacle (Cockpit Theatre) and the Prime Minister’s spokesman in the comedy monologue The Prime Minister is Missing (Blue Elephant Theatre, Camberwell).
Television appearances include Holby City, Eastenders, Casualty, Doctors (BBC), Planespotters, Footballer's Wives: Extra Time and Secret Smile (ITV). He can also be found in numerous short films screened at festivals and strange times of night on little known satellite channels…
Since 2007, he has also become a regular face at comedy clubs and festivals throughout the country as a stand-up comedian, and has reached the finals and semi-finals of numerous comedy competitions, including the final of the prestigious Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Competition 2010. Richard reached the final of the National Laughing Horse New Act of The Year competition in May, and came away with the judge's special comendation.
